If Not Now, When?

Maybe the name of the concert got to me. I have this attitude of never wanting to miss an opportunity. Sometimes it's called being impatient :P

Another way to spend an evening in the city is a concert! I watched Incubus last night with FLOW girl friends, Denise & Adi.

We bought upper box 1500p tickets and mid-way through the show, we ended up in the 6000p seats. Magic! See how much closer we were below?

Brandon Boyd was phenomenal. Looking at his earlier videos, he looks so much better now than before. And yes, he could be practicing yoga too. At some point, he was down on the carpet doing what looked like Inner Dance to me as well as some stretching exercises.

Here are two of my favorite songs by Incubus since my college days:

Sweet Disposition

500 Days of Summer was showing yesterday on the tube. Now I can't get this song out of my head. Lyrics are cool too. Was humming it even during the Incubus concert last night ;) Oh, and this song was bring played during the AVP on the wedding of good friends, Pam + Geronimo Begre :)
Sweet disposition
Never too soon
Oh reckless abandon,
Like no one's watching you
A moment, a love
A dream, a laugh
A kiss, a cry
Our rights, our wrongs
A moment, a love
A dream, a laugh
A moment, a love
A dream, a laugh
Just stay there
Cause I'll be comin' over
While our bloods still young
It's so young, it runs
Won't stop til it's over
Won't stop to you surrender
Songs of desperation
I played them for you
A moment, a love
A dream, a laugh
A kiss, a cry
our rights, our wrongs
A moment, a love
A dream, a laugh
A moment, a love
A dream, a laugh
Just stay there
Cause I'll be comin' over
While our bloods still young
It's so young, it runs
Won't stop til it's over
Won't stop to you surrender
A moment, a love
A dream, a laugh
A kiss, a cry
Our rights, our wrongs (won't stop til it's over)
A moment, a love
A dream, a laugh
A kiss, a cry
Our rights, our wrongs (won't stop til it's over)
A moment, a love
A dream, a laugh
A kiss, a cry
Our rights, our wrongs (won't stop til it's over)
A moment, a love
A dream, a laugh
A moment, a love
A moment, a love (won't stop to you surrender)

Backbending with Pim

There are a few things I still love about Manila. Whenever I am in town to visit family and attend meeting for FLOW, I do as much yoga classes I can take because I do miss being a student! I just attended a back-to-back Saturday to Sunday yoga workshop at Yoga+ at the Fort on Balancing & Backbending by Pim Swatewacharkul from Absolute Yoga Thailand.

When I signed up for her 2 workshops, I didn't know who she was or that her own practice was Anusara-style. The fine print on the poster was too small for me to read. But it was a good surprise because I did appreciate and enjoyed my 2-day training on Anusara Anatomy during the last Asia Yoga Conference under certified Anusara teacher Martin Kirk. Pim mentioned that Martin Kirk is also one of her Anusara Teachers in Singapore.

Martin Kirk talks about the spine and the pelvic bowl
Pim and I pose before the backbending workshop
Within 2 hours, we opened to grace, found and activated our inner and outer spirals, & let go of our fears. As John Friend once said“Whatever you’ve got, you’ve got to rock it out fully”.

Here we all are in class, rockin' it out

Assisting Aisa's backbend. She's a flexible little one!

Pim teaches us a trick- a backbending massage with a partner!

Pim's Wild Thing is beautiful!

Pim assists Jojo of Pulse with her camel against the wall
My turn with the very bendy Aisa
Pim gives Dina a hand, uses her forearm and legs for support

This is the best version of child's pose I've ever tried

Downward dog assist

Paschimottanasana with a little help

Anusara afterglow :)

The next workshop in Yoga+ is on my birthday weekend on Sept 17-18! Let's celebrate my last year in my twenties in a 2-day Jivamukti workshop with Jules Febre. See you there :)

Time Never Stops

My Dad just showed me some photos of me he keeps in his wallet.

Here are two of them:

Taken July 1985 when I was 2 1/2 years old

Monica 9 years old

At the back of this photo was this note in my own kiddie handwriting---

"This is me when I was 9. Now I am 10. TIME NEVER STOPS. "

Such wise words from a child! :P I couldn't help but laugh because there is indeed truthfulness to the message made by me almost 20 years ago. Children can be very poetic and prophetic.

At present 28 years old with my own little Santiago who is 4 years old.

Yes, time never stops :)

I am a Vortex

Photo from Labyrinth Workshops
The world is a Vortex
Every inward spiral must become an outward spiral
Life must be a lesson.
The human being must become a Vortex.
Everything performed as a vortex is magic.

from "Meditations from an Esoteric School" in Start Now, A Book of Soul and Spiritual Exercises

Thanks to my new fave blog read, a Waldorf Daddy for the quote above from his very informative Anthroposophy and Waldorf education blog here.
Photo from the golden spiral in nature on flickr
The spiral is the most widespread shape in nature.
When left alone, energy tends to move, grow and balance as spirals.

Organic Farm Lot for Sale in Palawan

Entrance to the farm

Our friend is selling his farm lot (which happens to be right next to ours where we live!)

So, I sure hope that whoever considers buying this property MUST promise to plant more trees and keep the farm quiet/sustainable/green/organic so we...don't panic :)

Mountain views from the farm

It is located in the town of Bacungan 30-40mins north of Puerto Princesa city en route to Sabang (where the Underground River is) and also beaches like Port Barton & El Nido.

It is also a few minutes drive to our fave beach spot, where we find ourselves almost every weekend, enjoying the beach all to ourselves.

Nagtabon Beach
It is also where I take my participants during my yoga retreats with Bahay Kalipay.

View from the top
Just 5 minutes drive from is the Ma-i Earth Village built by Pi & Daniw of Bahay Kalipay. It is a global mudhouse eco-village where there currently resides a Buddhist family with 2 young children.  I hear there are more people keen on moving in within the next couple of months. They are going to build a Green school there soon so if you have children and would want to expand your consciousness as well as your little ones, they are the perfect neighbors!

Pictures of past events during the Greenpath Yoga Retreat here and during the Yoga Dance Retreats here and here. You can see more shots in Ma-i Earth Village mountains and in Nagtabon beach.

In the lot, there are more than 20 Mango Trees, more than 30 Coconut Trees, some Cashew Trees, Banana Trees, wild Pineapples, and half a hectare of bagsakan for rice paddies.

My boys surveying the lot in 2010

A few minutes walk from the farm is also a small river where the kids love to play :)

The property is titled, has been surveyed, fenced and taxes paid.

Price details
Php 60 per sqm
Total land area of 2.5 hectares

Your Natal Path

Get your own NATAL PATH at Cosmic Navigator by Gahl Sasson

If you were born on the 16th day of the month-- here's our natal path below.

Path #16

Path of Cleansing - The Path of Truth

Qualities: The destruction of false attitudes and behavior patters, liberation, power, pure force, fire, destruction, war, battles, new beginning, resurrection out of the ashes, spiritual renewal.

Description: This path ties Victory with Splendor in a journey that cleanses with fire, the most powerful form of purification we know. It is one of the three paths (along with #4 and #8) that joins the right and left pillars. It purges all false philosophies in preparation for a paradigm shift. It is not easy to set fire to something that you believe you need. It is even harder to sever yourself from someone you love. In order to connect the two opposing pillars on a practical level, we must cut out all extremes on both sides. It might require the elimination of anyone and anything that we cling to too tightly.

Affirmation: What does not kill me makes me stronger. I know that even the most difficult challenge is for the best. I am now being trained by life to be a powerful warrior.

Psalms 119: 129-136 “Thy testimonies are wonderful, therefore my soul keeps them.”

Astrological Aspect: Mars, ruler of Aries and Scorpio

Tarot Card: The TOWER, a depiction of the Tower of Babel (our ego) being destroyed by a lightning bolt (awareness). The destruction of the tower denotes the elimination of everything that blocks us from our true identity.

Challenges: Violence, aggression, and self-centeredness.

Hebrew Letter: פ Pey means "mouth." The Greeks call it Pi, a symbol known for its importance in geometry and architecture. The mouth wields the power to speak kind words, but it also can kill and destroy.
